Let me introduce myself, I am Pim Deurloo and here at Mr Smith my role is as a Senior Project Manager. I am a seasoned professional with over 8 years of experience in this field and, understand the intricacies of SuperYacht AVIT and the need to balance time, scope, cost, and quality to deliver successful projects. The most important part of being a Project Manager is fully understanding the customer's requirements. These will be areas like budget, timelines, dependencies, and changes, and closely working with our internal and external teams and partners.

Time Management: Juggling Tasks Efficiently

For me, time is of the essence as meticulous planning and scheduling tasks will ensure the timely completion of projects. By identifying key milestones, estimating task durations, and monitoring progress, I can keep the project on track and avoid costly delays.

Defining Scope: Setting Boundaries for Success

With a clear understanding of project scope, I can define project goals, objectives, and deliverables effectively. This helps manage stakeholder expectations and ensures that the project stays within budget and resources. By continuously monitoring and controlling scope, I can prevent the project from veering off course.

Managing Costs: Staying Within Budget

Cost management is a top priority, I carefully track expenses and resources to keep the project on budget. By managing direct and indirect costs efficiently, I can avoid cost overruns and ensure the project's financial success.

Ensuring Quality: Delivering Excellence

Quality is paramount, I strive to meet stakeholder requirements and expectations. By implementing quality management processes, I can maintain project standards and ensure the delivery of our LAVIE solution fulfils its intended benefits.

The Five Stages of Project Management as I see them

  1. Initiation: Setting the Foundation - Defining project objectives - Identifying stakeholders - Developing project charter

  2. Planning: Mapping Out the Strategy - Defining project scope - Estimating resources - Creating project plan

  3. Execution: Putting Plans into Action

    - Assigning tasks

    - Monitoring progress

    - Managing workflows

  4. Monitoring and Control: Keeping on Track

    - Monitoring project progress

    - Addressing issues

    - Adjusting project plan

  5. Closure: Wrapping Up Successfully

    - Finalising tasks

    - Documenting schematics

    - Conducting a client project review and handover to ETO’s

    - Handover to our 24/7 support teams

    - Lesson learnt as part of our continual improvement

    - Celebrating achievements

In conclusion, as a Project Manager, I see a whirlwind of tasks, challenges, and successes in the SuperYacht AV world. By effectively managing time, scope, cost, and quality, I, and my team endeavour to seamlessly execute the project from initiation to closure and handover to our support teams. Always ensuring that everyone is clearly briefed on the current status and dependencies and always have a contingency in case of unforeseen events. My focus is always to raise the bar on each new project and set the standard at Mr Smith for project management excellence and importantly ensure we have an incredibly happy client!
